Manufacturing Process of Cast Alnico Magnets:

- Melting & Casting
The metal alloy is melted at high temperatures (around 1750°C / 3182°F) in an induction furnace.
The molten metal is then poured into sand molds shaped according to the desired magnet form.
The molds allow controlled cooling, helping to form the magnet’s grain structure.
- Heat Treatment & Annealing
The solidified magnet is heated again to around 1250°C (2282°F) and then slowly cooled.
This process helps optimize the magnetic properties by aligning the crystal structure.
- Grinding & Machining
Alnico is hard and brittle, so it requires grinding or machining with diamond tools to achieve precise shapes and tolerances.
Standard shapes include cylinders, bars, horseshoes, and custom designs.
